Went up to Edinburgh briefly today to hand over a couple of app forms I'd been filling out. Was all running smoothly, an all went well, but I was accosted halfway through my trip by a bunch of fairly menacing looking Spanish tourists, demanding to know about 'el Parlimento'. Yes. And muffins.
I did my best to direct them to the location of the new Scottish Parliament, despite the fact that all I got for my troubles was some fat ugly man speaking in thickest Speedy Gonzalez Spanish at me, saying PARLIMENTO PARLIMENTO PARLIMENTO PARLIMENTO PARLIMENTO PARLIMENTO PARLIMENTO PARLIMENTO PARLIMENTO PARLIMENTO PARLIMENTO PARLIMENTO PARLIMENTO PARLIMENTO PARLIMENTO PARLIMENTO PARLIMENTO PARLIMENTO PARLIMENTO PARLIMENTO PARLIMENTO PARLIMENTO PARLIMENTO PARLIMENTO PARLIMENTO PARLIMENTO PARLIMENTO PARLIMENTO PARLIMENTO PARLIMENTO PARLIMENTO PARLIMENTO PARLIMENTO PARLIMENTO PARLIMENTO PARLIMENTO PARLIMENTO PARLIMENTO PARLIMENTO PARLIMENTO PARLIMENTO PARLIMENTO PARLIMENTO PARLIMENTO PARLIMENTO .
After that I gave up. They weren't even bothering to try and articulate their point to someone who IS CLEARLY NOT FLUENT IN SPANISH. Christ, I mean, I would try learning a bit of Spanish if I went there for a fucking holiday. Ignorant cunts. Almost made me miss my bus.

In reality, we are the ignorant cunts. The number of Spanish people who speak English, easily outweighs the amount of British people who speak Spanish. The same could pretty much be said for every European country.

Okays, let's not turn this into a demographic thing because it's not.
Yeah, sure, by law of averages, the British ARE the ignorant cunts. But when I'm trying my best to understand what they are saying and they're not giving me any leeway at all, I fail to see how I am the ignorant one.

In addition, I was in no way referring to the entire population of Spain; just this bunch of tourists, if any further disambiguation was needed.

Giving directions to people who speak english and KNOW where the destination is, is hard enough for me...spanish peoples, i cross the road when i see them coming. Nasty i know, but I know i'll be useless and just get frustrated. hehe x

Yeah, I'm crap with giving directions and all...
Although I thought it would be okay seeing as I just had to pint them down the road... until one of them started pointing at Parliament House at the other end of the Royal Mile... confusion reigned from there on in.

They wouldn't happen to have been a man and woman with two kids about 10-12 years old, would they? Such a group spent five minutes of a bus driver's time at the stop I was waiting at before figuring out that they were on the wrong side of Shandwick Place.
